Prayer Requests

We know that a lot of you are praying for us and many of you have asked for specific things to pray for. So, here are some specific requests that we have:

Our marriage-that we’ll have time for each other, work together, listen to each other and understand where the other person is coming from.

Our kids-Tyson is having some struggles with finding his niche. He is too old to play with the little kids in our house and a bit too young for the older boys on the property, which leads to feeling a bit left out and out of sorts. Jori has been having a bit of an attitude lately, which is partly due to her age and also due to the changes that have happened lately. We are trying to balance having compassion for her and also not letting her turn into a 6 year old drama queen!

The TYB kids-They have all undergone a lot of stressful changes over the past month, the kind of things that would knock most adults off their rockers. Pray that we will be extra patient with those who really give us a run for our money and that we will be able to provide compassionate structure and guidance for these little ones.

The volunteers-The job these ladies are doing is not for the faint of heart (don’t let that scare you away if you’ve ever thought about volunteering!). Working with children has a lot of fun, joy-filled moments, but it is also tiring and stressful. I’m sure that coming into things now, while Darin and I are still figuring out how we want to manage the house, adds an extra layer of stress as we are still making changes to the schedule and figuring out exactly what our day to day roles are.

Darin-Not only is he fulfilling the role of husband, father of 2 and housefather of 7, but he is also a working man! Things with the Sawyer filters are picking up (Praise the Lord!), but this means that Darin is extra busy at a time when he is being pulled in many directions by a lot of people. Pray that Darin will have the wisdom and courage to put first things first and that he will be able to manage all he needs to do each day.

Jonna-I’d like to say that no prayers are needed for me, as I like to keep up my superwoman appearance. However, I really could use prayer right now in a couple of areas. Right now I feel like I am parenting in a fishbowl, which is less than ideal for someone like me. Pray that I will do what is best for my kids and not allow what others are thinking of me (or what I think they are thinking of me) change that goal. In the same vein, I often struggle with feeling like people don’t like the decisions that I am making, which leads to a lot of second guessing on my part. I tend to read a lot into little things, and then I feel like people don’t like me and then I feel like a failure. You know, the usual.

Chris and the boys-It has been just over a month since Mark passed away, which means the pain of their loss is still very much there. On top of that, they are dealing with a lot of changes as our family has come on to the property and any time you add people it kind of upsets the normal flow of life. They are on a holiday this week and we pray that it is a real time of refreshing for the 5 of them.

Thanks for the specific prayers requests, Jonna, all so important. Not a day goes by where I'm not thinking of you and picturing TYB with everything that goes on. It is a mighty task at hand, and we pray God gives you all glimpses that He's with you every moment of these difficult days.

I have been praying for you but especially Tyson and Jori. It is a rough transition for them and we have seen it first hand with our two kids. It is not easy to be mission minded at such a tender age, but it sure does have its benefits it just takes time and faith to see them through.I know as a mom you at times second guess yourself and the decisions you make when it directly effects your children but God will give them a peace that surpasses all understanding. If Tyson or Jori ever want to talk to my two kiddos that are the same age and understand what they are going through let me know we are happy to arrange pen pals, skype, calls, emails whatever the capabilities are over there for you.
